The National Mentorship Movement is a South African Non-Profit Company and Section 18A Public Benefit Organisation, dedicated to driving economic and social transformation through mentorship.
Our journey began in 2015, when a group of business leaders came together to tackle South Africa's high unemployment and its struggling entrepreneurial landscape. They saw that mentorship - connecting experienced people with people who have the passion to grow - could be a powerful tool for change.
So they mandated a team to make mentorship accessible at scale: empowering entrepreneurs, youth and others to thrive, create jobs, and build social cohesion. A decade later, that mandate still drives everything we do.
Our goal is simple: to connect mentors and mentees in supportive relationships that help mentees achieve what they set out to do. We focus most on entrepreneurs and young people, but we are active wherever mentorship can make a difference, including internal programmes for our partners.
We call it the Power of Two because research shows mentorship roughly doubles results. People with mentors are about twice as likely to graduate, take on leadership, and grow a business that survives. See the evidence.
Our Chronus mentorship platform is the foundation. It is where mentors and mentees register, where we onboard and match them, and where we manage and track the relationships.
We work with organisations whose beneficiaries will gain from mentorship, and with partners who can mobilise mentors from their own people.
We design the right programme for each situation: one-on-one, group, peer, reverse, compressed or extended, across many industries, sectors and regions.
Our board brings deep experience from business, finance and enterprise development.
